Enabling Secondary Trading in a Marketplace
This article explains how to enable, configure and manage the secondary trading feature within your marketplace, including features for managing trading eligibility based on investor accreditation and jurisdiction.

What is Secondary Trading?
Secondary trading is a feature which enables investors to buy and sell tokens that you have issued via Offerings in a peer-to-peer trading system within your Marketplace. As the issuer, you have the ultimate authority to decide whether or not to enable secondary trading.
Note: Secondary trading is enabled/disabled at the Marketplace level. If enabled, Secondary trading will be available to investors in all Assets and Offerings made within your Marketplace.
How to Enable Secondary Trading in a Marketplace
Follow these instructions to enable or disable secondary trading for your Marketplace:
- Login to your issuer account and enter your Marketplace.
- From the Marketplace dashboard, click Settings
in the bottom-left corner, then click the Trade
tab. - Secondary trading is enabled by default. To disable it, hit the Pause
button, then click Confirm
on the pop-up window. To re-enable secondary trading, click the Unpause
button, then click Confirm
on the pop-up window.
Customizing Secondary Trading Eligibility in a Marketplace
Follow these instructions to customize secondary trading eligibility based on investor accreditation status or jurisdiction:
- Login to your issuer account and enter your Marketplace.
- From the Marketplace dashboard, click Settings
in the bottom-left corner, then click the Trade
tab. - You can customize the eligibility of secondary trading by enforcing accreditation or jurisdictional requirements for investors to be able to participate in secondary trading:
- To ensure that only accredited investors can trade in your marketplace, toggle the Accreditation icon
to the on position by clicking on it, then click Confirm
on the pop-up window. When enabled, only investors that have completed accreditation will be able to buy or sell tokens via secondary trading in your marketplace. - To limit the availability of secondary trading to investors in specific jurisdictions, click the Manage
icon under Jurisdiction, and select/de-select your required countries to update the list. Then slick Save Changes
. When a list of jurisdictions is specified, only investors who have declared themselves as residents of those jurisdictions during investor KYC will be able to buy or sell tokens via secondary trading in your marketplace.
- To ensure that only accredited investors can trade in your marketplace, toggle the Accreditation icon
