Introduction to Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a free web analytics tool that helps monitor and analyse user traffic on any website. Issuers on the Polymath Capital Platform have a customizable investor website that current and prospective investors use to view their asset portfolio and current offerings within your Marketplace. As part of our suite of tools to help you manage your investor relationships, we offer a free integration with Google Analytics.
Steps to Set Up the Google Analytics Integration
Follow the steps below to begin integrating Google Analytics with your investor marketplace.
Note: You must have an existing Google Analytics account or create a new one to proceed with setting up the integration.
Step 1: Configuring Your Data Stream Using Custom Dimensions
To facilitate the connection between your Marketplace's investor website and Google analytics, you will need to customize your Google Analytics admin page with two custom properties, namely offering_name and offering_id.
Here are the steps to do so:
- Login to your Google Analytics admin account.
- Select the Admin
tab by clicking the wheel icon in the bottom-left corner. - From the admin dashboard, click Data Display, then click Custom Definitions.
- Under the custom dimensions tab, create two new custom dimensions by clicking Create Custom Dimension
and following the prompts.
The configuration requirements for each custom dimension shown in the table below:

Step 2: Retrieving Your Measurement ID
The next step is to find your Google Analytics Measurement ID, also called a Tracking ID, which will be used by Polymath to pass investor usage data for your Marketplace website to your Google Analytics account. Once you have located your Measurement ID, you will input it into the Marketplace settings in Step 3. To retrieve your Measurement ID:
- Login to your Google Analytics admin account.
- Select the Admin
tab by clicking the wheel icon in the bottom-left corner. - From the admin dashboard, click Data Collection and Modification, then click Data Streams.
- Click on your data stream to open its menu, then copy the Measurement ID field. The measurement ID is usually an alphanumeric string starting with "G-".
Step 3: Add Your Measurement ID via Marketplace Settings
Once you have your Measurement ID from Google Analytics, follow these steps to navigate to your Marketplace and add it to your
- Login to your issuer account and enter your marketplace.
- Click Settings
, then click the Integration
tab. - Under Google Analytics, click Manage
, then paste the Measurement ID into the window that pops up, and hit Save Changes
. Click Confirm
on the confirmation window that pops up.
Once you have connected your Google Analytics Measurement ID to your issuer marketplace by following the steps above, you will see statistics related to your Marketplace on your Google Analytics dashboard as investors visit the site.
