Getting Started
Welcome to the Polymath Capital Platform! If you're reading this, it's likely because you are excited about our mission to tokenize the global financial system and are getting ready to launch your very own security token.
As you create your account and get started on your tokenization journey, here's an overview of what to expect at each stage of the process:
- First, you'll create a Marketplace, which is the overall ecosystem where your security tokens will be traded between you and your investors.
- Next, you'll create a Company, which is the legal entity offering the security token. You will need to complete a quick Know-Your-Business (KYB) verification process at this stage, so make sure to have your documents handy.
- Then, you'll create your first Asset and mint tokens directly on the Polymesh blockchain.
- Finally, you can use an Offering to sell those tokens directly to investors in your marketplace.
You can create your first Marketplace, Company, Asset and Offering completely for FREE using our Start-Me-Up tier, which every new issuer is automatically enrolled in. This way, you can experience the power of tokenization without worrying about up-front expenses.
If you're looking for a more in-depth explanation of the four stages in onboarding, watch this overview video or read through any of the sections below:
Creating a Marketplace
Creating a Marketplace is the first step in onboarding onto the Polymath Capital Platform. A Marketplace is the ecosystem that issuers create in order to tokenize their assets, raise capital and connect with their Investors. A Marketplace can have as many Companies, Assets and Offerings as you like, but for now the Start-Me-Up solution offers one Marketplace to be created for free.
To create a Marketplace, you'll just need to provide:
- A name for your Marketplace
- The jurisdiction (country) where your Marketplace is located
- The contact details for the main contact who will be in charge of the Issuer account.
You can find detailed instructions on creating a Marketplace on the help center, or watch the video below to get a walkthrough:
Creating a Company
Creating a Company is the second step in onboarding onto the Polymath Capital Platform. A Company is the legal entity that tokenizes and offers one or more of its Assets to Investors. A Company can offer multiple different types of Assets to Investors.
As part of creating a Company, you'll need to pass a brief Know-Your-Business (KYB) verification check.
To create and verify a Company, you'll need to provide:
- Company name and jurisdiction
- The contact details for the main contact who has authority to bind the Company
- Info and documents we can use to verify the existence of the business, such as the articles of incorporation, business registration/license documents, and proof of the business' address.
- Info and documents we can use to verify the identity of the ultimate beneficial owner (UBO) of the business.
You can find detailed instructions on creating a Company on the help center, or watch the video below to get a walkthrough:
Creating an Asset
Creating an Asset is the third and most exciting step in onboarding onto the Polymath Capital Platform. An Asset is the representation of something that has value which you tokenize using the platform. Examples of assets might be equity shares (stocks), interest-bearing loans (bonds), physical precious metals or real estate properties.
Once an Asset is created, you'll decide how many tokens to mint to represent ownership stakes in that Asset.
Before creating your first Asset, you should plan out:
- The name and ticker symbol for the Asset.
- The asset class of the Asset you are offering.
You can find detailed instructions on creating an Asset on the help center, or watch the video below to get a walkthrough:
Creating an Offering
Creating and launching an Offering is the final step toward tokenizing an Asset and raising capital using the Polymath Capital Platform! An Offering is the sales vehicle for an Asset. In an Offering, the tokens that you minted when creating your Asset will be offered for sale to the Investors in your Marketplace. This is where the magic happens!
Setting up an Offering has a few more steps than the previous stages, so you should be aware that it might take a bit of time. To create an Offering, you'll need to provide:
- The number of tokens you will sell
- The payment methods you wish to accept as payment for your tokens
- Investor eligibility restrictions that you wish to add, such as accreditation requirements or min/max investment rules.
- Any legal documents that you wish to share with Investors before they invest.
